Rosmini Conference - Friends Meeting House – 6th November
Yesterday we held our conference to present the reports of work we have been doing with our Academic Partners looking at Modern Day Slavery and The Impact of Migration, using Fenland as a basis for the data collection and investigations.
We were really pleased to be able to welcome HRH Princess Eugenie to the event, along with around 120 delegates from a really wide range of organisations, locations and job roles. Encouraging delegates to network was a key theme for us and we hope that those who attended made lots of new contacts to share information and future activities.
The conference is the culmination of a years work involving all the staff at our centre, Professor Gary Craig, who has been a life long campaigner on Social Justice matters and specialises in Modern Day Slavery, Professor Margaret Greenfields who is Professor of Social Policy and Community Engagement at Buckinghamshire New University, Dr. David Smith A reader in Social Policy at Anglia Ruskin University and Dr Egle Dagilyte, Senior Lecturer in Law at Anglia Ruskin.
There were some really inspirational presentations from all our guest speakers, these Included Dame Sara Thornton The Independent Anti- Slavery Commissioner, Steve Barclay, Phil Brewer (StopTheTraffik), Paul Elms (GLAA), David Bailey (FDC), Caroline Virgo (CLEWER) and Cecilia Tredget (EELGA).
We have been really grateful for the support of The Department for Communities and Local Government and Fenland District council. Without their help in sourcing funding, the projects would not have been possible.
We would like to take the opportunity to share the findings of the report. Please feel free to download the files here, share them with colleagues and make use of the information to help inform any projects you are running.
The presentations were all filmed yesterday and we will add links to those once they become available.
